Little Red Riding Hood.

Jo! Guess what I found :) I don't know if you still remember this but I sure do. Shoot. Tens years from now and we're both still short. LOL. Anyways, I remember your story was the Little Red Riding Hood and you rocked it. But I can't remember anything about my story just that I was a gender confused carpenter who knows nothing about trees. Anyways, most importantly HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :) A year older, a year hotter. Please post up photos of your birthday on your blog ok :)

PS/ I'll snitch your trophy someday because mine was a pathetic consolation prize.

Lots of Love!

Monday

Just a List.

When I'm extremely bored, I do away with boredom by thinking of the things that I want but can't have. Any relevance to my birthday in August is purely cooincidental. Honest :) Maybe some of you want the same things I want or have the things I want ( I don't mind sharing! ) So here goes,

1. A moleskine. ( This has nothing to do with the furry brown burrowing mammal we know as a mole neither has it anything to do with Phua Chu Kang's ginormous mole. ) A moleskine is a notebook. Ah. But wait. Not just any notebook. Moleskines are extraordinary tools for use in your everyday life. A moleskine is timeless and also versatile. Imma get myself one the minute I step into Kino if I do go to KL anytime soon.

2. Cupcakes. I've been craving for cupcakes the whole night now. I want cupcakes. Not just those boring plain simple ones. I want pretty cupcakes. Enough to makes a huge cupcake tower in the middle of my cupcake kingdom far away in my cupcake land. I'm going to need a lot of cupcakes.

3. Another lomo. Hopefully. My fisheye has been doing nothing for months now. But I fell in love with this the other day when I was on the website. Isn't it lovely? I've always wanted a Holga but a Diana F's just dandy :)

4. A new compact camera. My Ixus is has served me faithfully for the past year now and I wish I would have taken better care of it. I can be such a klutz sometimes. I'm struggling to save enough money for a Leica (more like dreaming for one). Currently, I have enough money to get myself the box which holds the camera. Just the box : (

5. I will never be able to afford a Vera Wang gown so the next best thing would have to be this . The scent reminds me of vanilla ice cream and apricots. And its so pretty isn't it? Hey guys, you might want to get your princess one of these :)

6. A balloon. Seriously. I want a helium balloon.

7. Trix. As in the breakfast cereal. I hate Fruit Loops. I can't seem to find it anywhere here in Kuching :x Help?

8. A whole basket of KinderJoy :)

Hope you weren't too bored reading this. Anyways have a great week ahead everyone :)

Sunday

Delizzious.

Delizze is the newest deli which happens to also be a restaurant in Kuching. I went today and it was crowded. You see, I like my bread white and simple. I'm not a fan of buns either. Before I continue, I could never really comprehend the meaning of love at first sight until the moment I saw the fruit tartlets on display. Its impossible for something to be that beautiful. I knew I'd be rendered sleepless if I didn't get it. I got it and I don't regret it.

I got a strawberry tart and by the time I got home it was a bit out of shape. My reconstructing efforts didn't turn out so well though. When I took this out of the box I could smell nothing but the strawberries. That can only mean something really good right? I think this is how Lotso in Toy Story 3 smells like ( I've watched it! ) and if you've watched it too you'll know what I mean. Each mouth of this is will send your taste buds into rapture. No kidding. The sharpness of the fresh strawberries and the layer of dark chocolate in the tart compromises so well it strikes a magical balance and leaves you euphoric.

I'll quit being so dramatic if everyone would give this a try. I'm going back again to try everything and then sign up to be on The Biggest Looser.

Yummysu.

Had lunch at Yamisu today. For those of you who have never heard of the place, its at 101 Avenue. It's impossible to miss because its right smack in the middle. I always go for the dim sum but unfortunately today they decided that dim sum time ends before I reach. Uh-huh. Despite being disappointed ( you know how it feels when you're really craving for something and you can't have it right? ) I ordered the seafood noodles instead. I dare say its comes in a big portion. Good news for light eaters, you can share this. I didn't like the fishcakes though because it tasted a bit....queer. But all in all its a simple dish. Don't expect too much :)

Wednesday

Fruitful Night.

We ordered an extra dessert as well but the battery of my cam went flat before it arrived :x Damn. Anyways, I believe the dessert's name was custard caramel cream and its RM8. If you're not too keen on desserts but you're darling partner insists on having something to share, the custard caramel cream would be perfect because its small.
And for dessert! We have.....Crepe Suzette! One of my favourite desserts. RM14 for this. Crepes drenched with zesty orange sauce and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream :) You can choose to have it lighted right before you with cognac for an extra RM2. Now that'll be entertaining :) Did you know that crepe suzette was created out of a mistake?
A baguette for you to have with the cream sauce.

Mussles in cream sauce. Jambu offers a wide selection of tapas. Go with a huge group of friends and get everyone to order something different. They even have escargots! Which I wasn't brave enough to try :x
Portion might be a bit small for those with a big appetite though.

My Fettucine Carbonara with mushrooms and beef bacon for RM26.
Surveyed the interior and the deco's just lovely :)

While waiting for our food...
La menus.
Papadums served with sauce. I have no idea what sauce it is but it makes a great combo :) You can always ask for a second serving of papadums. Such a bonus right? So don't be shy :)

Had dinner last night at Jambu and sat next to a RM3800 lamp ( Inside joke ) However, if you ever go there please try and find that lamp alright? FYI its for sale if you're interested :) Service was pleasant, food was good and the company I had made the whole night wonderful :) We were the only ones there. Please do take note, try and go on a weekday if you can because if its crowded and loud it'll not be any fun at all. Jambu is an ideal place for a date or a quiet, nice evening for two. Just on the weekdays.

Sunday

I told you before that's Life.

Most of the places I have ever been to serves dumplings with the usual vinegar with ginger sauce but Life Cafe has their own special sauce for the dumplings.
I forgot the name of this dish but its a something pancake? Is that helpful enough? :)
Life's dry noodles. They substituted the cucumbers with fried shallots though.
Life's Special Lamb noodles.
Had lunch at Life today. I'm such a bore now aren't I? I keep going to the same places over and over again. I seriously need to go on a food hunt once I'm loaded enough ( still broke ) and have the time. Any suggestions?

Dear Dad.

Trying not to let the kids hear me curse, I assigned them with the most easiest task I could think of- Colouring. That's right. A great way to keep the kiddywinks busy. Always does the trick. I have a limited amount of time because they colour fast or if I leave them too long at it they'll start whining and all hell will break loose then it'll just be too late. I snuck outside and called the only superhero I know to come to the rescue. I have a memory span similar to that of a goldfish. Anyways, I'm nervous and I've already read them a story. All that's left to do for the rest of the hour and a half is to complete the exercises in the workbook. Just one tiny tiny problem though, I left those darn books back at home.

But my superhero came just in time carrying this huge pile of workbook up to my class, smiling, even though he had to drive all the way from Jalan Song back home and all the way to Tabuan Desa again. Yep. That's my dad.

I look back now on the 18 years I've lived, and I can't, couldn't, and never would be able to come up with or think of anything my dad has NEVER done for me. He is the most selfless person I know and I say this because, this man who never walks pass the blind playing their music by shopping mall entrances or the crippled sitting next to packets of tissues they're selling to make ends meet, without a care. He gives and encourages my brother and I to do the same. His a firm believer in the rewards of being hardworking and responsible in life and to me he is a living testament to what he preaches. My dad watches the news, loves nothing but a cup of hot milo and char kway teow, and that should just about make him as interesting as everyone else.

But to me, his more than that.
My dad's my hero. Happy father's day daddy, I love you :)

To all every dad out there, I wish everyone of you a Happy Father's Day as well. And to my Father in heaven, thank you for blessing me with the most amazing dad.
Please open up his heart and let him know how amazing You are too :)

Caked.

I'm officially sick of biscuit based cakes so the next best thing has to be sponge cakes. Thus let me introduce all of you to one of the best cakes I've ever tasted- The Green Tea Cake from We Care. No kidding, We Care truly cares...for our taste buds that is. This is a cake that will please all.
Just for the record, its not my birthday :)

Saturday

Trip to Chicago.

I go to Chicago 7 so often that if you were to drive pass the place once every fortnight you'd see me sitting by the window mutilating my fried chicken. Not a pretty sight please be warned. Anyways, that's not important. Now what's important is the fact that Chicago 7 isn't as crowded on most days as Kentucky. Theres never really a queue and the service is fast. You order what you want, pay, get your chili sauce or ketchup, spoons, forks ( I know you eat fried chicken with your hands but lets see you try and eat mashed potatoes with your fingers! ) I always have the set cause you get the best of everything. This is the Cajun Spice Set Meal that's RM8.80. I remember everything now because I just got back from Chicago 7 like half an hour ago but if its an hour or so than that's too late. Everything in my memory resets. Anyways their Cheese Dip Fries are awesome. The cheese dip is awesome to be more exact :)

Monday

Golly.

I'm in a rather dreary disposition and music happens to be a potent remedy for the blues thus one of Debussy's most formidable pieces Claire de lune happens to be on repeat now for several days. Okay, so what do I know about classical music really? I'm not going to pretend that I do. I'm aware that I can't play but that doesn't mean I'm incapable of enjoying it. Oh, I'm so bitter right now and I'm bloody broke. No no, the latter isn't the reason why I'm bitter I just happen to be bitter and broke at the same time. Golly. How fortuitous. I shall congratulate myself by letting myself dwell and wallow in more rancor and self pity. Retail theraphy is definitely out of the question.

So what now? My more sensible alter ego has been cajoling the part of me that's so fed up now to just persevere. I need to leave. I'm so weary of everything now. All this menial endlessness has jaded me long enough. I can't wait to be away. My unconfined fantasies take me to places I really want to go and be at. To the streets of New York. Having Papaya King hot dogs, getting myself lost among shelves and shelves of books in the state library, people watching in Central Park, suddenly I'm in a sunflower field in Arles and having macarons at the Cafe de la Paix stuttering in broken french for a fresh croissant and a cup of french coffee then I'm all the way in New Orleans lost in the crowd of the Jazz fest with a beignet in hand and all at once I can only see rows and rows of cherry blossom trees with a bento right next to me. I think I'm expecting too much. I'm delusional with high expectations and impossible dreams now maybe that's why I can never be content. Ah. Life. This unfathomable gift from God.

I'll just shut up now and hit the sack. Dear Insomnia, if you're reading this please kindly plague someone else tonight will ya?Like a security guard or an owl ok? Someone who really needs you. Thanks.

Friday

Its Going To Be Monday!

My two week holiday is coming to an end and I am addressing this with a very sombre heart. So long to idling. I have done nothing but watch Audrey Hepburn movies, reading and tumblring from dawn till dusk. Productive holiday eh? I still have a gazillion things I want to do now. But I'll take my time. I'm wondering how things are going to be like next year. I know its going to be another completely different experience. I'm beginning to feel oh golly....excited :) What with grocery shopping, doing your own laundry again. But on the other hand I honestly don't know what's going to happen tomorrow let alone next year. I'll just leave it to God now. Anyways, I'm excited about Toy Story 3! I'm going to bring my lil cousin for the premier. That is if I can get tickets. His excited too. About popcorns and sodas but not the movie really :)

Anyways, to infinity and beyond! Have a great day :)

Thursday

I'm a Country girl.

A very sumptuous spread indeed no? :)
A lil veggie lovin' here and then never hurt no one. Very fresh and the taukans....ah. Delicious :)

Fried venison with ginger. The meat is just right.

Country Court's special tofu dish. Best when eaten hot. With a bowl of rice no doubt :)
RM2.90 for any glass of fresh fruit juice.

Country Court happens to always be crowded I've realized and that's for a very good reason. The food of course :) Sorry for the pictures. We were sardined into a corner and I could even hardly get up just to go to the washroom let alone bring out my camera. But hey I'd say you guys go and try the food yourself :)

Friday

Rewind.

I was suppose to make the most out of this year. I was. Its June now and I still have 6 more months to make it. It took me so long to realize that life isn't in sync with fantasies. I'm halfway through this journey and now all of a sudden I'm afraid and uncertain. God. Tell me how You want my tomorrow to be like. Tell me how things are going to be. I can't do what I want to do. I understand that now but what is it that You want?

Insomnia is being such a pain in the arse and she won't leave me alone. I'm on page31 of Catcher In The Rye and I'm going to let myself be carried away by the familiar waves of nostalgia. Just for awhile. After all I'm still awake. I feel like listening to Frank Sinatra now. Just fly me to the moon or somewhere else far away. Just for awhile.

Say Cheese.

Wonderful when eaten hot just like that. Before I forget this is filling. I mean it!
I am in love with the chicken chop cheese baked rice with white mushroom sauce over at Causeway Bay. Rich ooey gooey cheese on roasted chicken cutlets and creamy mushroom sauce with rice. It was a surprise to know that they don't use Kraft singles for their cheese baked rice as I'd expected unlike other joints that serve cheaplak cheese baked rice and use Kraft singles instead. Believe me when I say I speak from experience. You just CAN'T use Kraft singles la ok? So needless to say this is good :)

Thursday

Full Of Life.

This is mine. Delicious and not to mention its a very healthy option as well.

Don't know what these noodles are but it sure was good :)
Passion Fruit Tea. Extremely fragrant tea.
George's Bubble Milk Tea with pearls.

Life Cafe is this cozy little place you can find on Carpenter Street. Vegetarians would usually frequent this joint but they do cater to non-vegetarians as well ( Me, me, me! ) Everyone knows their famous for their "Ma Lak" noodles. However, finding a parking space is the only drawback. For me of course with my awful driving skills that is. Next time I'll just have my noodles in the car. Heh :)
